No One Will Go Hungry at Fountain House

As the federal government shutdown continues into November, SNAP food benefits for millions of Americans will be delayed.

The uncertainty - and now reality - of the situation weighs heavily on our community, as 85% of Fountain House members rely on SNAP benefits for basic survival.

The entire Fountain House community — members, staff and volunteers at all four clubhouses in New York City and Hollywood, California — is coming together to ensure members receive three meals a day, seven days a week, for FREE, in the event that SNAP benefits are impacted in the coming weeks.

We are gearing up to serve at least 33,000 meals a week, including delivering food to those who are home-bound. This means purchasing, storing, and cooking more food, packaging to-go meals and setting more tables onsite, buying additional dishes and refrigerators, and gassing up the vans to ensure home-bound members receive delivered meals. Members and staff are being deployed to meet this need. Fountain House’s doors will be open late so that everyone is fed.

We are grateful for your support and partnership, and we will keep you informed as our response to this situation unfolds. Together we will meet the moment of this crisis and ensure that no one will go hungry at Fountain House.
